I have been associated with the Administration domain for over 30+ years now and have been performing roles as Travel, Hospitality, Events, and Compliance Manager. I always wanted to learn more about other areas of Administration and Facilities. And was hunting for someone or an institute that can deep dive into various facilities-related topics and teach me in detail about the technical side of it and solve all my doubts.
I came across an Institute run by stalwarts from the Industry Mr. Rameshkumar Upadhyay (BE, MDHRD, DIM) and Mr. Jitendra Narayan Kumar (BE, MBA) both Directors of the Institute of Facility Managers & Engineers (IFME), Pune, India conducting a course on Facility Management. They have also written two books on Facility Management and theirs is the only institute in India that teaches facility management, as the majority of Admin. or Facility personnel learn by means of work experience.
I attended this four months course wherein subjects like – Maintenance, Heat Ventilation & Air Conditioning, Diesel Generator, Transformer, Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), Building Management Systems (BMS), Workplace & Ambient, Data Center Management, Business Continuity Management Systems (BCMS), Transport Management, Risk Management, Pest Control, Vendor Management, Building Management, Security Physical & Electronics, Communications, Environment Health & Safety (EHS), Fire Detection & Fighting, Commercial Leasing, Water & Sanitation, Budgeting & Budgetary Control, Labor Law & Compliance, Compliances, Housekeeping, Cafeteria Management & Sustainability were covered and all my questions were answered good-naturedly by all the faculties of IFME.
Now I carry that confidence in addressing most of the technical queries related to Facilities and Administration. I am immensely thankful to Mr. Upadhyay and Mr. JN Kumar for such insightful teaching and for parting in their first-hand experience with all the students.
I would strongly recommend all to take up this course if you wish to make a career and Facilities and Administration, it is worth investing in self-development.
